This is one of my favorites to come out of an encounter with a young male white-tailed deer while walking in Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge in the spring of 2025. Painting acrylic on paper is a medium I don’t often explore, so it was a fun change of pace to create a set of white-tailed deer and mule deer paintings in nearly-monochromatic color schemes.
