HOW MUCH IT COSTS: I charge $3 per square inch for commissioned oil on canvas paintings. For example, a 24” x 24” painting would cost $1728 (plus 8.75% sales tax). Half of the price (in this case, $864) is due as a deposit before I begin, and the remaining balance ($864 plus $151.20 sales tax) is due on completion. An additional fee may apply if the commissioned painting is very complex or with numerous elements, which will be discussed and agreed upon before beginning work (no surprises!). If you need the final artwork shipped to you, that will be an additional cost based on shipping method.
WHAT IS INCLUDED: Your commissioned painting will be painted with professional artist oil paint on gallery wrapped stretched canvas 1.5” deep. The sides of the canvas will be painted a solid black (or other single color, if requested), creating a polished, contemporary look. The painting will arrive ready to hang on your wall with professional hanging hardware (wire stretched between D-rings) and rubber pads on the bottom two corners to minimize the painting from sliding on the wall. A signed Certificate of Authenticity will also be provided that lists artwork title, size, medium, date, and price for your records.
HOW IT WORKS: We first discuss your project, usually by email, to make sure I understand what you are looking for. You provide details like size of canvas, subject (possibly with reference photos), and any other information you can, such as colors you particularly like or examples of other pieces of my artwork that you hope your commissioned piece resembles. We both sign an agreement form, you pay a 50% deposit, and I begin working on your painting. I will provide photo updates as I go to make sure you love the final result before you pay the final 50% and sales tax. If you are somewhat local to the Denver area, I would be happy to deliver the painting or meet you somewhere convenient for both of us, free of charge. If you are further away and need your painting shipped, I will arrange the best shipping option based on your priority (speed, cost, etc) and let you know what the shipping cost is. When you receive your artwork, I would be honored if you shared a photo of it on display (totally optional)!
TIMELINES: This varies depending on the size and complexity of your commissioned painting, but it typically takes approximately one month from the time I begin on your commission to when it is ready to deliver.
