We had the great fortune of witnessing the wildebeest in their annual migration across the Mara River. In painting that moment, I wanted to show the energy and urgency of the animals as they crossed, knowing there were dangers waiting for them in the water. It felt like the world narrowed down to just those animals in that moment. They seemed brave by stepping into that unknown.
