A river of meltwater flows from the mountains and across the plains of Iceland in late November. This oil on canvas painting was created with brush and palette knife with thick applications of paint and abstracted detail.

I was fortunate to be able to spontaneously visit Iceland in Nov 2019. It was my first time there, and I toured the rim road around the entire country for almost 2 weeks and saw so many breath-takingly beautiful sites: waterfalls and glaciers and volcanic flows and hot springs. This experience sustained me through the long years of covid and provided inspiration for a whole series of paintings, this being just one of them.
